Given that the U.S. elections are just around the corner we are rightfully seeing many political experts such as Remi Landau coming out to discuss the importance of voting. This coupled with a swathe of celebrity voices saying the same thing, is absolutely essential given that voting has already opened for so many across the country. Each election sees various numbers when it comes to the electorate getting out and voting, yet sadly this general sits around the 50% mark. This means that half, or sometimes less than half of all Americans who are eligible to vote, fail to do so. If you have never voted before or you currently don’t have any plans to vote, here is exactly why this year, more than ever before, is the time to make your vote count.

Divided Nation
Whether it has come abut as a result of the pandemic and the lockdown, because of the far left and right or simply because the country is going through a tough time, there is more division than ever before. The hatred on both sides of the aisle seems to be at an all time high and this is why now is the perfect time to make your vote heard. You don’t have to tell anyone who you are voting for, you don’t even have to tell people that you have voted, what you should do however is to make that voice heard, do your part and vote.
Having a Say
Something which is very frustrating are those people who complain about the current state of politics yet completely fail to do anything about it. If you haven’t voted then there isn’t much to complain about as you haven’t taken action to change things. To have your say then all you have to do is get down to the ballot box and vote for the candidate which you want to see in office, then you can complain about the way things are.
Your Vote Matters
There are so many people who genuinely don’t think that their vote counts, yet the truth is that this couldn’t be more wrong. It is always possible that a candidate wins by a single vote, we may not have seen this happen before but it most certainly could, and when it does, that one vote, that person who decided that they would go and cast their vote, they will be the one who decides who gets into power. It can be tough to see a candidate winning by thousands of votes and assume that yours wouldn’t have mattered, if you don’t vote though and your choice loses out by a single vote, that could very well have been yours.
We live in a democratic nation, which is something that we all have to cherish, there are many around the world who do not have this luxury. Given that, and given the difference which it makes, this is the best year for you to get out there and make your vote count.
