Comfortable Home

There are certain touches that turn a house into a home, and sometimes it’s hard to capture what those things really encompass.  Not everyone is Martha Stewart in their home, but we all wish we had that special touch.

However, when you have the right pieces of information, you too can create a home that is comfortable for everyone in your household.  Take a few moments to check out some interior design tips, and turn your house into a home just in time for the holiday season.

Adding musical instruments

You would be surprised at the comforting touch of adding musical instruments to your interior design.  An acoustic guitar carefully placed on a stand next to the fireplace gives the mind room to build cozy moments.

You may want to go big and add a gorgeous piano to the aesthetic.  If your family is a musical one, adding a piano to your home could add a whole lot more than just a musical instrument.

Throw blankets and pillows

Adding the right throw blankets and pillows to your furniture will make all the difference in almost any room of the house.  In the living room, you always need a blanket.  It’s comforting to know that you can always cuddle up with a blanket on the couch.

In the kitchen, adding throw blankets and pillows to rugged wooden benches helps warm up the place.  Make a warm cup of hot chocolate on a cold morning, and cozy up with the family around the table.

Adding live plants is healthy

Adding live plants to your home can add a few different elements to your design.  Living plants are excellent air purifiers.  If you want the air in your home to be clean and crisp, adding a healthy boston fern is a great way to start.

Plants have also been attributed to good sleep and happy dreams.  Tending to your interior plants is also a calming routine that will help make your house more of a home.

Pay attention to the lighting

Lighting has an immense influence on the mood or vibe of your home.  The body needs natural light to facilitate several mood altering functions in the brain.  In short, light makes you happier.  Brighter isn’t always better.  Natural should be the goal for lighting in your home.

Smells are just as important as decoration

You may not directly relate the smells in your home to the interior design, but there are some super appealing wax warmer designs on the market.  Smells are directly associated with various emotions as well.

Harsh smells typically make people feel angry.  Sweet or sultry smells often induce comfort.  Choose the vibe of your home by filling it with delicious olfactory stimulation.
