Frass Chasm Quests

Caravan Escort:  Suggested level: 30+ Time Limit: 1 hour Guild Rank: 5

1. Talk to Captain Marco (the closest Windwalker when you begin the quest).
2. Select up to two of the Windwalkers by talking to them and choosing the “take you with me” option.
3. Take the Windwalkers to the star (I-7 on the map).
4. Talk to the Windwalker at the star (Kyle) to drop off the Windwalkers you are escorting.
5. At this point, there are two options: you can either run all the way back or take off your armor and die (to warp to the beginning).
6. Repeat steps 1 to 5 until all the Windwalkers have been escorted.
7. Talk to Kyle again when you are escorting the last of Windwalkers and the boss fight will begin.
8. Kill the Dire Waterspider and, voila, you have beaten it.

There are flares all over the map. These mark the locations of ingredients needed for a subquest. Collecting these ingredients is done by having certain Windwalkers with you when you examine the flare. Unfortunately, collecting all of the ingredients and fighting the extra mini-bosses does not change the final boss or give a subquest complete bonus. There are two ways (known at this time) to finish this subquest with a maximum amount of completion (mini-bosses fought and items gained from the Windwalkers you escort). The first way yields every boss and item except the valuable-looking ore (random chance for ore) at the flare at I-5 on the map. The second way yields every boss and item except the item that Rollo gives you (Hexcap in Caravan Escort 1).

Option 1—Rollo’s Item:

1. Escort Captain Marco and Chef Rollo first. Don’t stop at any of the flairs. Take them to the star on the map.
2. Escort Warrior Adde and Chef Frio second. Visit the flare at L-3 on the map that says “There is a crack in the ground here.” Warrior Adde retrieves Spring Water.
3. Visit the flare at I-5 on the map that says “Some amber colored mushrooms grow here.” Chef Frio retrieves Amber Caps. Take them to the star.
4. After you drop off Adde and Frio, talk to them. They give you the Spring Water and Amber Caps.
5. Talk to Captain Marco. He makes and then gives you Amber Essence which attracts Treants.
6. Take the Amber Essence to the flare at J-6 that says “Some strangely beautiful branches liter the ground here.”
7. Fight the Treant.
8. Important: Next escort Merchant Eddie and Warrior Leon seperately. These two Windwalkers MUST be escorted by two different people or one at a time by the same person. If you are solo, escort Merchant Eddie first.
9. Take Merchant Eddie to the flare at I-7 that says “White rocks lying on the ground.” (this flare is past Kyle, the Windwalker at the star—don’t talk to Kyle first or Eddie will stop following you) Merchant Eddie retrieves Rock Salt.
10. Talk to Kyle (to drop off Merchant Eddie). Then talk to Merchant Eddie; he gives you Rock Salt. Give it to Chef Rollo; he gives stuff in return.
11. Escort Warrior Leon last. Visit the flare at K-6 on the map that says “You see fresh monster tracks on the ground.” Warrior Leon spots a Jackal; kill it—it drops Jackal Meat.
12. Take the Jackal Meat to the flare at G-5 on the map that says, “You see dragon scales scattered on the ground.”
13. Fight the Earth Dragon.
14. Take Warrior Leon to the star to start the final boss fight.

Option 2—Valuable-looking Ore:

1. Escort Captain Marco BY HIMSELF first. Don’t stop at any of the flairs. Take him to the star on the map.
2. Escort Warrior Adde and Chef Frio second. Visit the flare at L-3 on the map that says “There is a crack in the ground here.” Warrior Adde retrieves Spring Water.
3. Visit the flare at I-5 on the map that says “Some amber colored mushrooms grow here.” Chef Frio retrieves Amber Caps. Take them to the star.
4. After you drop off Adde and Frio, talk to them. They give you the Spring Water and Amber Caps.
5. Talk to Captain Marco. He makes and then gives you Amber Essence which attracts Treants.
6. Take the Amber Essence to the flare at J-6 that says “Some strangely beautiful branches liter the ground here.”
7. Fight the Treant.
8. Important: if you are doing this quest as a group, escorting the Windwalkers one to a group member is fine until this step. Escort Warrior Leon and Merchant Eddie. These two Windwalkers MUST be escorted by the same person to get the valuable-looking ore.
9. Visit the flare at K-6 on the map that says “You see fresh monster tracks on the ground.” Warrior Leon spots a Jackal; kill it—it drops Jackal Meat.
10. Take Merchant Eddie and Warrior Leon to the flare at I-5 that says “A valuable-looking ore is sticking out of the ground here.” Warrior Leon retrieves a random valuable ore.
11. Go to the flare at G-5 on the map that says, “Dragon scales are scattered on the ground.”
12. Use the Jackal Meat and fight the Earth Dragon.
13. (optional) Take Merchant Eddie to the flare at I-7 that says “White rocks lying on the ground.” (this flare is past Kyle, the Windwalker at the star—don’t talk to Kyle first or Eddie will stop following you) Merchant Eddie retrieves Rock Salt.
14. Take Merchant Eddie and Warrior Leon to the star. Talk to Warrior Leon to get the valuable-looking ore.
15. Take Chef Rollo to the star to begin the final boss fight.

Caravan Escort II:  Suggested level: 41+ Time Limit: 1 hour Guild Rank: 8

Research Assistant : Suggested level: 33+ Time Limit: 1 hour Guild Rank: 6

• Talk to Maurice and he will join your party as a healer.
• On the way to the first star (B-4), kill one of the 2 Direspiders to get a spider egg. One is at and C-7 and the other is at C-5.
• Go to the next two stars and examine them to spawn the bosses (talk to Maurice after killing each one).
• After the second boss fight, head north and go to the star in C-1 where you’ll find a lily blossom.
• Go to the last star and spawn the normal boss.
