Initially scheduled for a late February launch in the region today Capcom announced a two week delay for Asura’s Wrath.

The action game is now on track for a March 9th debut. Capcom didn’t explain why the delay was needed.

Asura’s Wrath tells the tale of a former general to the Gods who has been framed for the murder of the Emperor. Asura also finds his wife murdered and his daughter kidnapped making him very, very angry.

Those responsible won’t like Asura when he’s angry.

Capcom also released a new trailer for Asura’s Wrath this week.

Check it out below.

This week Capcom shared its third quarter earnings report. In the report the company outlined its “growth strategy progress report” which included shortening development time for new entries to existing franchises.

However the only franchise mentioned under this heading was the recently announced Resident Evil 6 which is set to arrive worldwide this November.

Release dates to several other announced titles were also noted in the report but noticeably absent was Ninja Theory’s Devil May Cry reboot. As you may recall DmC was first revealed to a stunned audience during the Tokyo Game Show 2010.

As of last November leaked information found on a Japanese website revealed that the game was 30% complete. As to our knowledge neither Capcom nor Ninja Theory have publicly shared details regarding how far along the controversial project is. Supposing development for DmC is closer to the halfway mark then perhaps a 2012 release is unfeasible.

With the Devil May Cry HD Collection and Captivate, Capcom’s annual press event, both scheduled for April perhaps the company will shed some light on DmC in the coming months.

When Canadian-American David Hayter, best known as the voice behind Hideo Kojima’s most famous creation Solid Snake, isn’t spending time writing, acting or doing voice work you can find him replying to Metal Gear Solid fans on Twitter.

While the 42 year old doesn’t mind answering MGS or Snake related questions on the social media outlet there are a few questions he says he’s grown tired of being asked.

Those three questions are :

What do you know about the current status of the MGS movie?

What do you know about future MG games?

Hey, did you ever write a script for the MGS movie?

“Nothing”, “nothing”, and “no” are Hayter’s answers to the above questions so be sure to refrain from bringing them up.

When asked which Metal Gear Solid title was his favorite Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater was chosen because according to Hayter, it’s “amazing.” We’re inclined to agree. But enough about Metal Gear.

What project is Hayter currently working on? Recording side missions and add-ons for Electronic Arts MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic.

According to a member on Neogaf Sony is planning to change the name of its PlayStation Network (PSN ) in a few days.

As of February 8th the online service’s new name will be SEN or Sony Entertainment Network and will only affect Sony’s PlayStation 3 and PS Vita.

Below is the email from Sony provided by gaffer psykotik:

On February 8, 2012, your “PlayStation®Network account” will be renamed a “Sony Entertainment Network account” or a “SEN account” in conjunction with Sony Computer Entertainment’s PlayStation®3 system software and PlayStation®Vita system software updates. (Note, this change will not be applied to the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system at this time.)

For general purposes, this account change is a change in name only. Your username or password will not change, nor are we asking you to change them. In accordance with this transition, some necessary naming changes will be made to the TOS and Privacy Policy.

This transition is based on Sony’s goal to enhance its unique digital entertainment offering. As a series of these activities Sony started last September, PlayStation®Network will be aligned with “Sony Entertainment Network.”

This helps us get closer to our goal of establishing a global comprehensive network platform of services across games, movies, music and more, all accessible from one convenient account.

Thank you for your continued loyalty and support during this transition.

Sincerely,
The Sony Entertainment Network Team

This won’t be the first time that Sony has chosen to rebrand a familiar name. It was just last September when Qriocity was renamed to the Sony Entertainment Network.

Back in 2007 Square Enix announced what was planned to be one of its first mulitplatform role-playing games for next gen systems.

That game was called The Last Remnant, a new IP running on the Unreal Engine 3. Over a year after its announcement The Last Remnant was released for the 360 with a PC version debuting months later.

A PS3 version was also in development but was never released. Since 2008 Square Enix has remained dead silent on its status leaving those on the outside to ponder the fate of the PS3 version of the game.

Despite the information blackout surrounding the PS3 version of The Last Remnant Japanese gamers haven’t ruled the game out.

For several years The Last Remnant has remained one of Famitsu’s Most Wanted titles in the region. The PS3 edition of the rpg sits at 15th place on a recent FMW chart. Obviously these PS3 owners believe that the rpg is still coming to the system. With all of the mixed messages Square Enix is sending concerning the title, who can blame them?

On Square Enix’s Japanese webpage under games to be released in 2012 and beyond you’ll find the PS3 version of The Last Remnant. Like Final Fantasy Versus XIII, TLR’s release status is labeled as “To Be Determined”.

This isn’t the first time TLR has been listed as a future PS3 release. Last September the PS3 version found its way on a “Famitsu Choice” listing as one of the Square Enix titles still in the pipeline.

So what’s going on with the PS3 version of The Last Remnant? It all came down to the Unreal Engine as members of the project found the engine a bit difficult to get up and running on the PS3 at that time.

However with Square Enix now currently working on a new action rpg for the PS3 that utilizes the UE3 developers within the company have found a way to make the engine work on Sony’s system since those early days.

With that fact in mind perhaps the fate of The Last Remnant on the PS3 has yet to be written.

The company announced plans to add a multiplayer component to the action game in the near future. This feature will allow players to meet up in the game in online pubs where they can chat, use emotes and other goodies that come along with multiplayer titles.

While the multiplayer update will be free Gung-Ho hasn’t announced when it will go live. They did mention that development of the patch is going well but requires fine tuning. In the meantime the developers shared images of what the online interface may look like when it’s completed.
