With the announcement of a third installment of Sucker Punch’s inFAMOUS franchise and the introduction of a fresh new protagonist, many maybe wondering if we’ve seen the last of Cole McGrath.
After all, he did sacrifice himself for the greater good in the good ending of inFAMOUS 2 but a well placed lightning bolt raised much speculation on Cole’s chances of returning. Sadly, it appears that may just be wishful thinking.
As the bearer of bad news to all those who have grown attached to McGrath over the years, QA Manager, MichaelM from Sucker Punch’s official community forums has confirmed that Cole’s journey has come to a close.
Cole McGrath’s legacy from the first two inFAMOUS titles ultimately concluded following the final events of inFAMOUS 2 and he will not be returning. The inFAMOUS universe holds so many interesting storylines and characters that we wanted to explore a new story arc for the franchise.
Although Cole isn’t the focus of the new story arc, inFAMOUS: Second Son does follow the events of inFAMOUS 2 seven years after the East Coast was decimated by The Beast. And similar to our previous hero, new guy Delsin Rowe’s smoke powers in Second Son ( seen in the debut trailer ) are merely the “tip of the iceberg.”
