Future Looks Bleak For Capcom’s Onimusha & Dino Crisis Franchises

If you’re one of the older generation of gamers, such as myself,  who grew up enjoying  Capcom’s Onimusha & Dino Crisis series, then you may want to put the past behind you.

Capcom appears to be ready to do just that as Resident Evil Revelations producer Masachika Kawata stated in a recent interview with Videogamer:

“Capcom has obviously never shied away from bringing back our older IPs to new generations, but I do think it’s more important for us to focus on creating new IP as we move forward.”

While Kawata didn’t entirely rule out a resurrection of the franchise, his comment contradict a statement made by Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono who, back in 2011, claimed that the “time is right” for Onimusha to return.

Although Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams on the PS2 ( released back in 2006 )  was the last console iteration of the series, Capcom did release a browser game called Onimusha Soul in Japan last Summer.
