Telltale Games has found huge success with its episodic survival horror title, The Walking Dead. Speaking to the Wall Street Journal , CEO Dan Connors revealed that the five part series has sold over 8.5 million units in seven months.

Citing that November and December were its biggest months, Connors credits the title’s success to the number of awards it has received, including several for Game of the Year.

Although the California based studio released a disc version of The Walking Dead in December, Connors highlights the importance of digital content.

“The episodic model has allowed us to create an economy that works on mobile. As far as size, at this point it’s probably about 25 percent of the revenue of the product and it is on the largest upswing of all platforms as well.”

While Season Two of The Walking Dead is in the concept stage, Telltales next project is an episodic game based on Bill Willingham’s Fables comic book series.
