How Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots Could Have Ended

It was nearly a year ago when Hideo Kojima told the Official PlayStation Magazine about his desire to kill off his creation in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots.

Admitting that he “wanted to end it at every step along the way” during the game’s development to the magazine, few outside of Kojima Productions knew just how the 49 year old producer/director/designer would have brought it all to a close if he had his way.

That was until the latest issue Play UK fell into our laps.

According to one of the many Metal Gear fun facts highlighted in the publication, in an original draft of Metal Gear Solid 4 Snake and Otacon’s fate wasn’t as sunny as the ending that was finalized. Instead the pair would decide to make the ultimate sacrifice and turn themselves over to the authorities to answer for their crimes.

This act would eventually lead to their execution and a lot of teary eyed fans no doubt. But just like that Hall & Oates song from the late 70s, Kojima’s staff wasn’t going for that.

Assuming the curtain did fall on Snake’s story the way Kojima wanted it, would death by execution have been a deserving end for Snake and Otacon?
