PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale: Square Enix Character Announcement Coming Soon?

The latest batch of unconfirmed reports surrounding PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale comes to us by our regular source for most things All-Stars. Paul Gale, the man who initially leaked the existence of Sony’s newest IP well ahead of its announcement, has provided fans with numerous teasers surrounding future character announcements and stages for several months now.

According to details shared by Gale this week, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale will have 22+ playable characters. While it has previously been confirmed that the brawler will have over 20 fighters, we can say that atleast two more unveilings are coming soon. Assuming Gale isn’t pulling our legs, that is.

Another thing he mentioned was the addition of a San Francisco stage, which is yet to be revealed. A quick google search for video games based in the city by the bay reveals a small list of games that, at first glance, don’t appear to fit in All-Stars. However, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas included a fictional city that was based on San Francisco.

Could there be a connection?

Lastly, Gale teased his readers with a Square Enix business card hinting at an upcoming character representation from the Japanese conglomerate best known for the Final Fantasy series.

While a lot of fans have been calling for Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII to appear in the game, given SE’s focus on Final Fantasy XIII over the past 5 years or so, it may just as well be Lightning who makes the cut instead.

What do you make of Paul Gale’s latest teases?
