GameStop Predicts Only One Next Gen Console Will Ship In 2013

As the current generation of console draws to a close, the anticipation for a new generation of hardware is constantly growing. While the Nintendo WiiU will be the first out of the gate this year, it’s unclear who will follow in 2013. Sony’s PS4 or Microsoft’s 720?

Speaking to the Verge this week, GameStop CEO Paul Raines spoke about the rumors he’s heard coming from the next-gen grapevine:

“The Wii U, we expect it at holiday,” Raines said. “This week, I’m getting a lot of rumors that are very interesting about 2013.

We have not been expecting two more consoles in 2013. We’re expecting Wii U this holiday, another one next year, and another one in ’14. These rumors change every week, but we’re hearing more about next year.”

Which ever new console makes a 2013 debut Chief marketing officer Ashley Sheetz stated that Gamestop is already making plans for the arrival of the PS4 and X720.
