So far only two VF stars have been officially confirmed as playable fighters ( with more rumored to come ) in Dead or Alive 5, but judging by director Yosuke Hayashi’s comments, the Sega cameos may not end with Virtua Fighter.
“Speaking of Sega characters, I’d say the main character from Shenmue,” Hayashi told VG247
“When considering a cameo for a fighting game, you have to look at someone who can actually fight. After the release of Dead or Alive 5 we’d like to explore cameos further, but at the moment…it’s a secret”
Ryo Hazuki would be a perfect fit for any fighting game ( although, personally I’d like to see him in PlayStation All-Stars ). If he were included in DOA 5 at some point fans calling for another installment to Shenmue would likely jump at the chance to play Ryo in the fighter.
Dead or Alive 5 is slated for a September 25 release in North America and Japan followed by a 28th debut in Europe.
