Capcom Had Doubts About A Female Lead In DONTNOD’S Remember Me

Even though video games with female protagonists are slowly gaming steam, Capcom initially expressed concerns over DONTNOD Entertainment’s choice for the starring role in Remember me ( formerly known as Adrift ).

“I have to admit, when we first looked at this title, it was one of the first questions that everyone raised: ‘It is a female protagonist does that potentially damage the sales?’ Michael Pattison, head of marketing for Capcom’s US and Europe  branches told MCV.

Looking at the success of the Tomb Raider franchise, which is credited for opening the doors for female heroins, Capcom eventually became more open to the concept of Remember Me star Nilin being a gal.

Pattison cited that they now believe the game will have a wide appeal that “will bring in males as well as females.”

Remember Me is scheduled to debut on a PS3, 360 and PC near you next May.
