Those looking to replay one of Rockstar’s best selling titles today will have to wait a while longer.
Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto III was due for a re-release on the North American PS3 store today, however, due to “last minute issues ” with music licensing the title’s PSN debut has been rescheduled.
Although PlayStation Store Director Grace Chen cited “unforeseen complication” for the delay alongside this week’s regular scheduled update on the US PS Blog , Morgan Haro went into more detail on the matter when responding to inquiries left in the comment section.
“There were some last minute issues with getting clearance for a certain audio track in the game. But the teams at Rockstar are on it to review how to best get this title on PSN,” Haro explained.
”I can’t say for 100% certainty if the gears will be able to move to fix (and let me be clear) this particular edition of GTA 3 (The PS2 Classic version).
“I don’t have any insight on any development hurdles here, so I can’t confirm; but at the same time, I know that Rockstar is reviewing options with the teams as we speak; so it’s very much possible as well. I’m afraid you’ll just have to stay tuned.”
Despite running into issues on PSN the Grand Theft Auto 3: 10th Anniversary Edition was released on mobile devices late last year ( with updated visuals as well as touchscreen controls and autosave functionality ) without any reported roadblocks.
