No Change In Gameplay With Zone of the Enders Sequel, Says Kojima

Hideo Kojima has took to Twitter to share small bits of information about the recently announced Zone of the Enders sequel.

In a series of comments the acclaimed developer confirmed that the next installment to ZOE will play the same as its predecessors.

He also tweeted about his role in the game, its budget and whether or not to  create the sequel with high end graphics for a worldwide appeal or giving the game a more anime look.

Concerning gameplay:

No intention of changing the gameplay but there’s 2 kinds of direction in term of the game world.

One is Japanimetion style of Si_Fi robot, which is our original ZOE. The other is realistic live action style such as Xmen, Batman, or Spiderman that revolved from anime.

To tell the truth, I want to have them both along w authentic sequel.

Budget:

As being the producer, I need to think “whether it sells or not”. The budget is based on the theory of how many we can sell awa the market. But more than that, create something we meant to create is important. Should the sequel be anime style w Otaku soul or should it be photo realistic w Si-Fi soul?

Graphics:

Making photo realistic is not my intention but it fits the best w FOX engine that we’re developing & maybe hi-end ZOE for worldwide audience is needed. If we shift to Japanimation type of ZOE, the sense, the story, the gameplay, and the budget more likely become local game, I wonder why.

Being the Producer:

For me, I abandon myself to Project Ogre so I’m being just the producer for Ender’s Project. I judged the initial concept&direction;and after that I position myself only on support side. Actual game design, scenario, direction, level design will be handled by my staff. I can’t insist them my direction which they can’t do. lol

The Enders Project was announced last week during a ZOE event in Japan. The title is currently in the prototype stage.

No platform(s) for the title has been revealed yet but since it’s running on the multiplatform Fox Engine, a release on both the PS3 and 360 should come as  no surprise.
