Atlus Not Shutting Off Demon’s Souls Servers Afterall

After announcing an end date for the North American Dark Souls servers a short time ago it appears that Atlus has had a change of heart. In a statement released today the company revealed plans to continue supporting the PS3 exclusive for the time being:

“We’re incredibly excited to be able to announce that the Demon’s Souls online experience will persist for a while longer,” stated Tim Pivnicny, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at ATLUS.

“While it originally seemed as though it would be unfeasible for us to continue to sustain the servers, a number of developments have made it possible for us to continue to invest in and support our fans as they have continued to invest in and support us and Demon’s Souls.

“For all the gamers who have yet to discover the game’s amazing online experience, we’re happy to say you can still log on and find out why Demon’s Souls is still regarded by many as one of the finest games of all time.”

Depending on continued interest in the dark fantasy role-playing game amongst gamers, Atlus may extend the life of the online portion of Demon’s Souls again in the future.

In other Demon’s Souls news for the Memorial Day Weekend Holiday in the States the World Tendency will be Pure White through Monday.

Black Phantoms rejoice!
