Worldwide Sales Of Dark Souls Top 690k, PS3 Version Leads The Way

According to data published by VG Chartz, North American sales of Dark Souls for it’s launch week broke the 250k mark. PS3 sales of the challenging action rpg lead the way with 166,526 copies sold since launch followed by the 360 version moving 89,922 copies.

If accurate these numbers put worldwide sales of Demon’s Soul’spiritual successor well over 690k. As Dark Souls was released exclusively for the PS3 in Japan, where the game has sold over 320k copies since release, a majority of sales can be credited to system. Despite that fact as a multiplatform title Dark Souls has nearly outperformed Demon’s Souls’ lifetime sales in under a month.

Note: Since Dark Souls’ precise sales data has not been publicly revealed by the game’s dev/publisher, VGChartz is only used as just a reference point. The data provided will likely be revised when October sales numbers provided by NPD release ( or are leaked ) in November.
