Intended by Square Enix president Yoichi Wada to “become a cornerstone for ( their ) worldwide strategy”, The Last Remnant was one of the first multiplatform games the company revealed over two years ago.
Originally announced as for the PS3, 360 and PC, the action rpg only saw the light of day on Microsoft’s platforms. Even though Square Enix has not confirmed or denied whether or not the PS3 version has been canned you can still find the PS3 logo on the game’s official webpage.
Square has remained rather quite about the PS3 verison of The Last Remnant since 2009 but the game has resurfaced again on an apparent “Famitsu Choice” listing ( see below ). Amongst new Square Enix releases coming this October and beyond in Japan, including Final Fantasy Type-O, Final Fantasy XIV, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, the PS3 version of The Last Remnant is one of the games listed.

Square Enix has never declared the PS3 version of The Last Remnant as cancelled. Perhaps this listing proves that development of the rpg for the PS3 is still chugging along behind close doors. Or, then again, it may just be a typo.
