At 192,700 copies, sales of Cole McGrath’s first adventure back in 2009 were a bit anemic in North America. The same was the case in Japan
when inFamous only sold 17,000 copies in it’s first week. By the end of the 2009 inFamous had reached 1.2 million in sales worldwide. inFamous 2 looks like it’ll reach that mark in half the time.
According to NPD inFamous 2 sold 369k copies in North America during the game’s first month on sale, nearly twice as much as the first game. In Japan, where the game sold 33,474 during it’s first week, sales of i2 were much better. The sequel also secured the number 2 spot in the region, a feat the first game failed to accomplish.
And while we have no solid sales data from the EU, inFamous 2 has managed to hang around the top 10 for a few weeks in several countries in the region.
With better sales than the first game, it’s more than likely that Sucker Punch’s inFamous franchise has a bright future ahead of it.
