Games Destined To Be Forgotten In 2011

2011 is shaping up to be another huge year for gamers. While the attention is on numerous AAA sequels, there will also be several new IPs released in the coming year as well. Unfortunatly most gamers can only afford so many new games at a time and with the big named games hogging the spotlight here’s a list of titles that will no doubt fall through the cracks in 2011.

Tecmo Koei: TRINITY: Souls of Zill O’ll:A new installment in the  Zill O’ll series that has appeared on every PlayStation platform, including the PSP.The game wasn’t a major hit in Japan when it released in November, despite positive reviews from Famitsu ( 9, 8, 8, 7 )  and Dengeki Playstation ( 80, 75, 90, 75).

This PS3 exclusive action role playing game will release during the crowded month of February 2011 in North America and Europe. It’ll be a shame if this one’s overlooked.

Game Republic/ Namco Bandai: Knight’s Contract:  Set during a fictional version of old Europe ,Knight’s Contract stars Heinrich Hofmann, a witch-hunter who finds himself in quite a predicament that has him protecting the witch (  Gretchen ) who cursed him with immortality.

The CG and gameplay in this game both look solid but without a sign of multiplayer, online or offline, gamers may just pass it up for other big name release in February.

Atlus-Catherine: From the developers that brought us Persona. After cheating on his fiance of five years with a blond temptress, young Vincent is plagued with peculiar nightmares that may be linked to numerous bizarre incidents in which people in Vincent’s neighborhood have died in their sleep.

Atlus promises “exciting adult scenes” in the game but will that be enough to attract gamers outside of the Persona fanbase ?

Feelplus/Square Enix- MindJack: Set in the year 2031 where corrupt governments are replaced with the advent corrupt organizations MindJack revolves around a team of rogue agents with the ability to  “hack” into and control enemies, vehicles, or civilians.

The game will have single-player co-op and will release first in North America on January 18th for the PS3 and 360, the same day as Little Big Planet 2 for the PS3.

Tecmo Koei-Warriors: Legends of Troy:  Think Dynasty Warriors, only bloodier and set in ancient Greece.  Warriors: Legends of Troy will feature a smaller cast of 8 different players of Greeks and Trojans origins.

The game will have online and offline co-op and will release in North America on February 15th and few weeks before Dynasty Warriors 7.

Sega-Thor: God of Thunder: Scheduled for a spring 2011 release on all major video game platforms, Thor: God of Thunder is a game adaption of the Hollywood film, Thor. The main character in the game Thor will be voiced by the actor portraying the Norse God in the feature film, Chris Hemsworth. Video games based on movies just hasn’t been that successful in the past. Thor: God of Thunder won’t break the tradition either.
