Enterbrain has released hardware and software sales numbers for the first half of 2010 in Japan (March 30 – 27 September). During those six months Sony’s PSP and PS3 were the only two platforms to see a boost in sales.
Harware sales during the first half of 2010:
· NDS 1,128,964 ← 1,698,818 (-33.5%)
· PSP 850,876 ← 813,604 (+4.6%)
· PS3 602,821 ← 581,676 (+3.6%)
· Wii 549,834 ← 594,398 (-7.5%)
· 360 108,973 ← 137,059 (-20.5%)Total hardware sales so far for the 2010:
· NDS 31,204,692
・PSP 15,078,230
・Wii 10,686,926
・PS3 5,537,645
・360 1,362,075
Even though Sony’s hardware sales were up on the software side of things Nintendo dominated the top 5. Pokémon Black and White for the NDS lead the way with over 3m sales so far for the year, followed by Dragon Quest Monsters(NDS),Wii Party,Eleven 3 World Challenge! Bomber Spark(NDS) and Super Mario Galaxy ( Wii).
No surprise to see PS3 hardware dominating the charts, sales will go through the roof in a few weeks when the Playstation MOVE and Gran Turismo 5 come out.
Gran Turismo 5 numbers in Japan will be interesting. I wonder if it’ll be able to top Pokemon.
