Devil May Cry 4 was released back in 2008 and quickly became something of a letdown for long time fans of the series. This was partially due to the fact that Capcom dropped fan favorites Dante and Virgil from the lead for a new, whiny hero by the name of Nero.
If this tactic didn’t work for the popular Metal Gear franchise with Metal Gear Solid 2, where Solid Snake was demoted in favor of the green-behind-the-ears Raiden, I have no idea what made Capcom think that the same would go over easy for fans of Devil May Cry.
Now Capcom seems to have learned from their blunder as Keiji Inafune promises a new entry to the series would accommodate what fans want.

“Yes, there are a lot of fans of the Devil May Cry series,” he said. “We need to look at them, analyse what they want in a game, what they don’t want in a game, and then take that into account for if we are going to create a future title, and see if there is something we can create that is going to overcome their expectations, as well as create a title that’s going to get a lot of critical acclaim and be reviewed quite well.
“We don’t just want to come at it and just say, oh it’s a popular series, let’s make a sequel. We want to say, let’s make a sequel that’s going to be custom-tailored to what the fans want, and on top of that, prove that, again, it’s a great game, it’s a fun game, it’s got lasting appeal, and it’s going to be particularly well-liked by the media as well.”
Unfortunately, Inafune didn’t comment on the rumors that Ninja Theory is working on a new Devil May Cry game but if it’s true, is it something fans want?
please!!! we need Dante`s returns.
and the game should be more large and with a better history
Dante and Virgil’s sibling rivalry has to take the spotlight again. An improved combat system would be nice. Capcom says the Japanese gaming industry needs to innovate, then they can start with making DMC the best action game ever.
Too bad they didnt listen to either of you
Yup. Way to lie right to our faces Inafune.
I agree with you Hypnotic.
