Remember back in March of 2009? Microsoft was patting itself on the back after NPD numbers revealed the 360 version of Street Fighter 4 sold 43k more copies than the PS3 version. The company was so confident that every other franchise that was considered PlayStation property would continue to sell better on their system that they even made the bold prediction that Final Fantasy XIII would sell more on the 360.
I believe the exact quote made by a Microsoft spokesperson was:
…they( Microsoft ) expected releases of other Sony associated titles, such as Resident Evil 5 and Final Fantasy XIII, to sell better on the Xbox 360. We’re happy with the performance of Street Fighter IV on Xbox 360. It follows in the steps of franchises like Grand Theft Auto and Madden NFL which have historically been associated with PlayStation, that are now selling better on our platform,” the representative added.
Well Microsoft it’s 2010. Final Fantasy XIII has come & gone and judging by March 2010′s NPD numbers sales of Final Fantasy XIII on the XBox 360 failed to live up to the company’s ambitious predictions. Not just in North America, where the PS3 version sold 828.2K compared to the 360′s 493.9K , but in Europe as well.
Even though there are no official sales numbers per version of Final Fantasy XIII in Europe the following graph speaks for itself. In the top 30 software sales for the first 15 weeks of 2010 for Europe the PS3 version of FFXIII sits comfortably at the #4 spot while the 360 version ranks in at 18th place.
If you include sales of the game in Japan where it was only available for the PS3, Microsoft’s year old statement really was far fetched.
Even if Final Fantasy XIII is considered one of the worse installments of the series (depending on who you ask) it’s nice to see that PlayStation gamers have proved Microsoft wrong.

FUCK OFF MICROSOFT!!!!!!! Reading this article made me remember all the good exclusives Sony had! If RE5, GTA IV, FFXIII, SFIV and Madden (series) had come out on ONLY PS3 and COD had stayed exclusive to PC then PS3 would be the dominant console! But PC games get overshadowed so COD would have been a bit of a failure compared to what it is today!

First of all obviously ff 13 well sell mroe since originally it is a ps3 excelusive and a lot people bought a ps3 just for it. THe fan base is already sony owners. Second the statement is before we learned that 360 version is inferior to the ps3. If both version si the same I want to see that stats. Truth said most multiplatforms (HARDLY OR NO DIFFERENT VERISON) do well in xbox 360 because there is bigger install base in xbox 360. Not surprising, the last – gen graphics and crappy online mode of the Gaybox 360 is really affecting sales. Not just software but hardware as well. The PS3 has consistently outsold the Xbox 360 every single month in worldwide hardware sales since last September and it’s because the Gaybox 360 has such bad graphics and no exclusive games.
360 owners are too poor to afford games, they lost all their money paying for a shitty online service that should be free, LMAO. Butthurt 360 gayboys are butthurt.
During the last 2 generations of consoles, they dominated everyone with 100,000,000+ consoles of PS1 and PS2. No other system came close.
PS3 is struggling with system sales and still last place, and they want to talk about success?

Microsoft said FFXIII would sell more on their system and it didn’t despite the fact that the 360 has a bigger user base in North America than the PS3 and the 360 version was heavily advertised in NA. That’s why I wrote this article.
