Will 2010 Finally Be The Year of Gran Turismo 5?

Gran Turismo 5 is one of those games that feel as if they’ve been in development for ages. That’s probably due to the fact that  it has been.

GT5 was first announced in 2006 under the alias Vision Gran Turismo.Since then fans of the series have been fed appetizers in the form of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, an online only GT5 Time Trial Demo via PlayStation Network as well as a PSP version of the game.

During the 2009 Tokyo Game Show Sony made the announcement that Gran Turismo 5 would be released in Japan in March 2010 only to disappoint gamers later by returning the game’s release date to “to be announced”. Even though no release date had been announced for the rest of the world, Sony claimed the delay in Japan wouldn’t affect the US and EU releases of the game.

At their 2010 GDC press conference, Sony re-confirmed that Gran Turismo 5  is still set for a 2010 release. Will it be a wordwide release or will one lucky region of gamers be the only ones fortunate enough to play GT5 this year?

All I can say is whenever GT5 hits store shelves it had better be worth the wait.
